Montblanc Writers Edition – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (2021)

Please share on your social media

The 2021 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was the Scottish author who created Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, beginning with A Study in Scarlet in 1887.

Pen design and identification

The 2021 pen uses a dark blue-grey palette with decorative references to Victorian London and the world of detective fiction. Its styling evokes the atmosphere of Holmes’s investigations.

The colour, patterned surfaces and detective-themed details help identify the edition.

Versions and collecting notes

It may appeal to both pen collectors and Sherlock Holmes collectors; assess condition and completeness independently of that crossover interest.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
