Montblanc Writers Edition – Robert Louis Stevenson (2023)

Please share on your social media

The 2023 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Robert Louis Stevenson. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894) was the Scottish author of Treasure Island, Kidnapped and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Pen design and identification

The 2023 edition draws on nautical exploration: its shape recalls a sailor’s telescope, while the fittings and decoration reference the maritime adventures of Treasure Island.

The telescope-inspired form and nautical details distinguish it from neighbouring releases.

Versions and collecting notes

Examine the cap and cone carefully for scratches or impact damage, and check the version before comparing auction prices.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
