Montblanc Writers Edition – Leo Tolstoy (2015)

Please share on your social media

The 2015 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Leo Tolstoy. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910) was the Russian novelist of War and Peace and Anna Karenina. He also wrote extensively on morality, society and the life of the countryside.

Pen design and identification

The 2015 edition combines contrasting dark and light surfaces with metal decoration inspired by Russian craftsmanship and the rural surroundings of Tolstoy’s Yasnaya Polyana estate.

The interplay of contrasting materials and ornamental details helps distinguish the edition.

Versions and collecting notes

Check that any contrasting sections are free from chips, discolouration or repairs and that the mechanism functions correctly.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
