Montblanc Writers Edition – Jules Verne (2003)

Please share on your social media

The 2003 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Jules Verne. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Jules Verne (1828–1905) was the French novelist of extraordinary voyages, including Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Around the World in Eighty Days.

Pen design and identification

The edition has a striking blue surface with wave-like decoration and metallic fittings. The marine styling evokes Verne’s underwater adventures and makes it readily recognisable.

The fountain pen’s nib decoration also draws on the theme of exploration.

Versions and collecting notes

Compare the finish under good lighting, checking that decorative lines are intact and that no scratches are mistaken for part of the pattern.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
