Montblanc Writers Edition – George Bernard Shaw (2008)

Please share on your social media

The 2008 Montblanc Writers Edition honours George Bernard Shaw. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950) was an Irish playwright and critic whose works include Pygmalion, Saint Joan and Man and Superman.

Pen design and identification

The 2008 edition is notable for its green lacquer and platinum-plated detailing. Decorative metalwork and a distinctive profile give the pen a more sculptural appearance than a conventional black resin fountain pen.

Its green finish and unusual shape are useful identifying clues.

Versions and collecting notes

Inspect lacquer closely for chips or repairs, particularly around edges and fittings where damage can be concealed in distant photographs.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
