Montblanc Writers Edition – Charles Dickens (2001)

Please share on your social media

The 2001 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Charles Dickens. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Charles Dickens (1812–1870) was the Victorian novelist behind Oliver Twist, Great Expectations and A Christmas Carol. His fiction depicted both the hardships and energy of nineteenth-century Britain.

Pen design and identification

A dark green resin barrel is paired with a decorative sterling silver cap. The engraved metalwork creates a strongly Victorian appearance and makes the cap the principal visual feature of the pen.

The combination of green barrel and silver cap distinguishes this edition from other black-and-silver designs.

Versions and collecting notes

Inspect the silver cap for dents, tarnish and wear to the engraving, and ensure the cap and barrel belong together.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
