The Goebel King’s Column
produced for The World Collectors Net
by Matt a.k.a. “The Goebel King”
In pictures 11 and 12 we have the “Bavarian Bunnies” which have rabbits doing various sports and other human activities.
Often we can find both boy and girl bunnies playing the same sport. Of course, they are always appropriately dressed. Most of these are quite hard to find and you should consider yourself lucky when you come across one. There are over 20 figurines in this series including a double and even a triple figurine. Their numbers are 33 100 and up.
Pictures 13, 14 and 15 illustrate various baby animals experiencing their first encounter with their natural prey. I think the curious look goebel gives to these creatures is really a work of art. We have the ducky with the frog and the fox with the bunny. Then there is the doggie and hedgehog and the kitty with tweetie. Finally there is the badger ( hey you Wisconsin fans ) and mouse and the weasel with birdie. These are larger figurines and again only the lucky ones will find them.
Finally we have, in pictures 16, 17 and 18, our animal friends with a little boy. Fittingly, goebel calls this series “Friends”. They are numbered 10 921 to 10 926. Look at the desire the cat has for that fish.
The figurines have a delicate matte finish and are not too difficult to find.
Please e-mail me with your comments or questions about Goebels at [email protected] . I am actively buying any of the 35,000 goebel items that I do not yet have. Please give me a thorough description and include the numbers and mark on the bottom as well as the size. My personal collection is just under 5,000 pieces but I have a long way to go. Please be sure to read my previous columns if you are new to this website. Please don’t ask me for a value, as “value” only exists if a seller is willing to sell and a buyer is willing to buy.
