Montblanc Writers Edition – Mark Twain (2010)

Please share on your social media

The 2010 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Mark Twain. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Mark Twain (1835–1910), born Samuel Langhorne Clemens, wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. His life and fiction were closely connected with the Mississippi River.

Pen design and identification

The 2010 pen features dark blue resin with a decorative pattern recalling river movement and nineteenth-century American riverboats. The clip takes inspiration from a jew’s harp, a distinctive feature of this edition.

The unusual clip is especially helpful in identifying the model.

Versions and collecting notes

Check that the clip retains its correct shape and compare photographs of the decoration rather than relying on a generic “blue Montblanc” description.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
