Montblanc Writers Edition – Thomas Mann (2009)

Please share on your social media

The 2009 Montblanc Writers Edition honours Thomas Mann. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

Thomas Mann (1875–1955) was a German novelist whose works include Buddenbrooks, The Magic Mountain and Death in Venice. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1929.

Pen design and identification

The 2009 pen uses black lacquer with platinum-plated fittings and geometric decoration. The controlled monochrome palette gives it a refined appearance associated with early modern design.

The geometric surface treatment and metal finish are important identification details.

Versions and collecting notes

Examine the lacquer under angled light for fine scratches, and compare complete sets separately from single pens.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
