A wax or plaster mould is produced using the drawings.Right:

Once the mould is ready, the fine detail is added and
the surface smoothed.

Left:

The Smurfs are then taken and pressed, adding
details to their bases.Right:

All the Smurfs were originally hand painted thus
giving rise to certain colour variations within Smurfs.
