If you are one of the many people who love Royal Copenhagen’s elegant Easter eggs, it’s time to start celebrating. This year Royal Copenhagen is adding a decorative new bonbonniere and a large goose egg to its collection, as well as launching poetic new motifs for the popular Easter eggs.
Royal Copenhagen is renowned for combining tradition and innovation in equal parts on a bedrock of craftsmanship that is recognised all over the world. This year Royal Copenhagen is continuing the Easter traditions in the form of an exquisite spring bonbonniere decorated with purple primulas and a large, decorative goose egg with rose-pink tulips. There are also four evocative new Easter eggs: pink primula, pale blue iris, greenfinch and wren.
Paying homage to history
With its poetic, decorative idiom, the new Easter collection is a direct descendent of the unique craftsmanship and incomparable dinner services for which Royal Copenhagen is famous. Some of the collection’s flower motifs are taken from the exclusive Flora Danica service, one of the most expensive dinner services in the world.
“It was important to us that our Easter collection should tell the story not just of the burgeoning spring and our beautiful Easter traditions, but also of Royal Copenhagen’s proud, artistic heritage. We therefore dived into the archives in search of inspiration for this year’s collection, which is intended to be a decorative, poetic herald of spring that will fit perfectly in the modern home,” says Niels Bastrup, Royal Copenhagen’s Creative Director.
Decoration with personality
Using an idiom that combines beautiful design and evocative tradition to perfection, Royal Copenhagen has created poetic design for people who want to adorn their home with personal decorations that are steeped in history. The soft, delicate spring colours have been carefully coordinated and will match previous years’ collections. The small eggs can either be hung from spring branches or arranged prettily in bowls and dishes. The slightly larger goose egg, which is 10 cm high, has a longer ribbon and can be hung in the window or displayed with the other porcelain eggs. The small new bonbonniere can be used for chocolates, biscuits and sweets, as a cachepot or as a window decoration.
Back by popular demand are the first four Easter eggs with flower motifs, which were launched in 2007. They come in a gift box of four eggs and cost DKK 499.
The recommended retail price for the small Easter eggs is DKK 149. The eggs are available in a gift box containing one porcelain egg for DKK 149, a gift box containing two porcelain eggs for DKK 269 and a gift box containing four porcelain eggs for DKK 499. The large goose egg decorated with tulips costs DKK 299. The small new bonbonniere costs DKK 349. The large bonbonniere decorated with snake’s head fritillary is still part of the collection and costs DKK 499. All the prices quoted are recommended retail prices.
