Freda Doughty, a gifted artist and sculptor, joined Royal Worcester in 1934. She quickly became renowned for her delicate and detailed work, which often featured children as the subject matter. The Children of the Nations series, created between 1936 and 1940, is a testament to her exceptional skill and creativity. The Thirteen Children

The Children of the Nations series includes 13 models, each representing a different country with some showcasing their traditional clothing and cultural elements. The models are as follows:

  1. Egypt (3066): An Egyptian boy dressed in yellow robe with mauve and green stripes, and he sports a red fez.
  2. Italy (3067): A young Italian girl dressed in green blouse and white apron, she has a basket of pink and purple flowers .
  3. Burmah (3068): A Burmese child in blue loin cloth, with red necklaces and bracelets.
  4. Greece (3069): A graceful girl performing a traditional Greek dance, wearing a black vest with orange trim, red hat, red sash and white skirt..
  5. Spain (3070): A Spanish girl wearing a pink dress and white apron, and carries a yellow and mauve parasol.
  6. India (3071): An Indian boy in traditional dress playing a metal pipe.
  7. Japan (3072): A Japanese girl dressed in a pink kimono, holding a delicate yellow fan.
  8. China (3073): A Chinese boy eating a bowl of rice.
  9. Holland (3074): A young girl dressed in a traditional Dutch costume.
  10. England (3075): A girl in an English country dress holding white flowers.
  11. Wales (3103): A Welsh girl in a traditional outfit, with traditional black Welsh hat..
  12. Scotland (3104): A Scottish girl wearing a green and yellow kilt, with brown and beige sporran.
  13. Ireland (3178): A spirited Irish lad playing a tin whistle, embodying the country’s rich musical heritage.
