Montblanc Writers Edition – F. Scott Fitzgerald (2002)

Please share on your social media

The 2002 Montblanc Writers Edition honours F. Scott Fitzgerald. The design is part of Montblanc’s annual tribute to important literary figures and gives collectors a recognisable writing instrument associated with the author.

About the author

F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940) was an American novelist whose The Great Gatsby became an emblem of the Jazz Age.

Pen design and identification

The 2002 design uses contrasting black and pale elements with platinum-plated fittings. Its sharp lines and geometric styling reflect the Art Deco vocabulary associated with the 1920s.

The contrasting colours and decorative trim help distinguish this edition from the predominantly dark pens around it in the series.

Versions and collecting notes

Look for staining or discolouration on lighter sections and check the condition of the plated trim.

Before purchasing, check the writing mechanism, condition of the resin or metalwork, nib where applicable, and the presence of the original presentation box and papers. Fountain pen, ballpoint and rollerball prices should be compared separately; avoid assuming every version was produced in the same quantity.
