The special Smurfs 40th ANNIVERSARY Smurf Band Playset by SCHLEICH was released in 1998 to celebrate the Ruby anniversary of the first appearance of the famous blue characters in 1958. The Smurfs were characters in a series entitled “Johan and Pirlouit”, drawn by their creator Peyo (The first figurines were actually produced seven years later in 1965). The Smurfs 40th ANNIVERSARY Smurf Band Playset features a rock band and stage. The figures were also available individually, but the colouring of the costumes differs. The Smurfs in the limited edition boxed set all have silver clothing.
