19th July has become known as the Wade Whimsie Day as it celebrates the day in 1891 when Sir George Wade was born in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. This is the fifth Wade International Whimsie Day and to mark the day a pair of Wade Whimsies – Doleful Dan and Cheeful Charlie have been produced. They are available from the Wade Collectors Club until the 10th September and are priced at £29.95.
