Vectis Auctions, the Collectable Toy Specialists are bringing to auction The Italian Matchbox Collection, a private owner collection which contains over 400 lots of Regular Wheels, Major Packs, King Size and accessories with many harder to find variations. The sale takes place on Wednesday the 12th September.

 

 

There are many interesting items in this collection, there are a number of Commercial vehicles which are becoming increasingly hard to find including Lots 4464 and 4465, these two lots are both Matchbox Regular Wheels ERF Petrol Tankers; Lot 4465 a rare green bodied model is valued at £600-£800 and Lot 4465 has “Esso” decals to the side and is estimated to achieve £600 – £700.

 

 

Lot 4544 is another Petrol Tanker, this time a No. 25C Bedford “BP” model, another hard to find issue; this has been estimated at £700 – £800. Lot 4764 is an interesting model; a No. 74A Mobile “Refreshments” canteen in silver with a scarce type C Lesney box and is expected to achieve between £800 – £1000.

 

 

Not all of the rare models are commercial vehicles however, Lot 4730 is a Matchbox Regular Wheels No. 62C Mercury Cougar, with a rare cream body and in the correct type E4 colour picture box this model has been estimated to achieve £3800 – £4400 and Lot 4644 is a No. 45A Vauxhall Victor, a superb example of a hard to find issue is valued at £3000 – £3600.
