Royal Copenhagen Blue FloutedRoyal Copenhagen’s Blue Fluted pattern has been ‘rejuvenated’ by leading designer Louise Campbell.

Royal Copehagen say: If you are fond of modern design with classic roots there is every reason to be pleased. Royal Copenhagen is now launching its new ‘Blue Elements’ service, a delightful and young interpretation of the iconic Blue Fluted pattern. The service has been created by the designer Louise Campbell, who is well-known for her playful and intricate idioms.

In 2008, Royal Copenhagen launched its colourful ‘Elements’ service which, representing a unique break with style, caught people’s attention in both the Danish and international design world. Now the brand new service Blue Elements is being launched, a natural development of the coloured Elements service, which now acquires an irresistible addition in blue.

Blue Elements is designed to tie in perfectly with all Royal Copenhagen’s other blue dinner services. All the pieces in the service are hand-painted according to the classic underglaze painting technique which has been used since Royal Copenhagen was established in 1775. The cobalt-blue colour of Blue Elements thus has the same depth and intensity as Royal Copenhagen’s other blue-painted services. Blue Elements can therefore be mixed and matched with both the Fluted Mega and Blue Fluted dinnerware if so desired.

The decoration on Blue Elements sends a warm salutation to the original Blue Fluted patterns, yet at the same time marks a new direction. The flowers move quirkily away from the classic division into four on which the Blue Fluted pattern was originally based. With a condensed and capricious look, which is both organic and anarchistic, the new pattern is a captivating play in blue. With a sure hand, Louise Campbell allows the iconic pattern to manifest itself in new and delightful ornamentation, showing that the legendary Blue Fluted pattern can be interpreted in a myriad of ways.

The service consists of several basic pieces such as plates, jugs and bowls in appealing and ingenious shapes.
“Blue Elements is not just a tribute to the impressive heritage which the Royal Copenhagen dinner services represent. It is a modern service with its own unique style that lovingly teases the Blue Fluted heritage in a completely new design,” says Louise Campbell.
Blue Elements creates an exciting and timeless look that combines the most traditional Royal Copenhagen services through three centuries – the Blue Fluted Service, the Flora Danica Service and the Half Lace Service in a modern, organic and effervescent design that perfectly matches the modern home.
