The fascinating, wise fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen are loved by both children and adults all over the world. The 200th birthday in 2005 of the great Danish writer is being celebrated in with Royal Copenhagen marking this occasion with new beautiful products, including a series of charming figurines, which interpret some of Hans Christian Andersen’s best-known fairy tales and a series of blue plaquettes.

Sven Vestergaard is the artist behind the fine hand-made figurines, while Jørgen Nielsen has created the motifs for the blue plaquettes.
The fairy tales portrayed on the small plaquettes by Jørgen Nielsen are The Little Mermaid, The Emperor’s New Clothes,
The Little Match Girl, The Ugly Duckling, Thumbelina and The Brave Tin Soldier.

The motifs are executed in the famous Royal Copenhagen blue, and there is a wealth of detail on the small plaquettes.
