To celebrate 75 years The Folio Society created a shortlist of five books from more than 5,000 suggestions, from which they would produce a special perfect edition to celebrate Folio’s 75th anniversary. The winner, which was a bit of a surprise, was Michael Ende’s iconic 1979 tale, The Neverending Story. The Folio Society released a special new edition featuring the illustrations of Marie-Alice Harel.

As well as an open edition an artist signed limited edition of 75 copies was released making it one of the rarest Folio Society releases.
The volume was priced at £150 and not surprisingly sold out very quickly.
The limited signed edition is now selling for £450 on auction sites and can be seen to be sold for over £600 on book sites and currently dealers are asking for nearly £800.

The overwhelming winner in our Readers’ Choice survey, The Neverending Story is published as a spectacular collector’s edition, with 75 copies signed by award-winning artist Marie-Alice Harel to mark Folio’s 75th anniversary. From the beautiful illustrations to the decorative chapter openers and opulent art silk binding, this edition is a must-have for anyone who was captivated by this extraordinary book in childhood and remains under its spell today.
