The latest catalogue from Corgi’s includes some interesting new models including this colourful London Routemaster decorated with Poppies inspired by the poem by John McCrae. The model is 1:76 scale and measures 148mm long. However, collectors will have to wait and it is not due for release until the 15th of September. It is priced at £29.99.
Inspired by a line in the famous First World War poem by John McCrae, Poppy Day and the centenary of the First World War was marked in London in 2014 with the wrapping of Tube and London Overground trains, Tube stations and ten London buses – including the New Routemaster seen here. The design uses the organic shape of actual poppies, combined with the harshness of barbed wire and a line from McCrae’s poem, ‘In Flanders fields the poppies blow’. It is available here on our 1:76 scale model of this iconic bus.
