Vectis Auctions offered a unique, single-owner G.I. Joe Collection of over 300 superb lots in its March 29th G.I. Joe auction. This was a carefully put together collection over many years; featuring G.I. Joe variations and top condition mint in box/carded G.I. Joe rarities.

This unique single owner collection attracted a lot of overseas attention, with bids coming in thick and fast over the internet, the telephones were red hot and the commission bids plentiful.

Although the amount of lots was fewer than some of Vectis’ past sales the average price per lot was a noteworthy £400 making this a very popular sale.

The sale was broken down into three sections, firstly the Boxed Figures. These Action Figures commanded extremely high prices, with some selling for double and triple their estimates; Lot 4060, a Hasbro G.I. Joe Action Soldiers of the World British and Canadian Commando in a Mint condition box fetched a staggering £2,040, that’s over £1,400 above its top estimate. Lot 4042 Hasbro Canadian Issue Sears rare G.I. Joe Mountie Set, Action Men of the World was estimated at £1,200-£1,600 and sold to an internet bidder for £2,760.

The second section of ‘Carded and Boxed Accessories’ had a number of Mint condition factory sealed items which proved very popular. Lot 4163 Hasbro G.I Joe Action Pilot Air Force Mae West Air Vest and Equipment Set saw its own battle commence with a lucky bidder eventually winning the Lot for an outstanding £1,920. A commission bid for Lot 4174 saw the Hasbro G.I. Joe Action Soldier Heavy Weapons set achieve a very respectable £2,400 from a £180 estimate.

Unboxed figures and accessories was the final section of the day and the lack of a box did not deter the buyers in this section, with the Action Figures proving they were just as sought after as any other. The Hasbro G.I. Joe Police Motorcyclist came complete with, amongst others, violation tickets, handcuffs and even a pencil to jot down all your particulars, this arresting figure in Excellent Plus to Near Mint condition fetched a fantastic £624.
