Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art


Following the tremendous spring Asia Week in March 2005,
in which Sotheby’s sold 23 lots over $100,000 and achieved
the three highest auction prices for Asian art that week,
including a previously undiscovered 14th Century copper-red
bottle which brought $2 million, the September sales of
Chinese and Asian art will feature a number of treasures,
including a monumental pair of late Ming dynasty lacquer
cabinets with reignmarks of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619).

T.S. Eliot’s Private Letters To Faber Publishing Family To Be Sold


An extraordinary and tender series of letters from the presiding
genius of 20th century poetry and author of The Waste Land, T.
S. Eliot (U.S.,1888-1965), to his godson, Tom Faber, will be sold
by the Faber publishing family this autumn. Bonhams will auction
the private and largely unpublished correspondence with inscribed
first editions of the poet’s work on Tuesday 20 September at 101
New Bond Street.

Wines, including an important offering from the renowned
Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars of Napa Valley (September 17, 2005),
followed by a single-owner sale of Finest Burgundy and Rh™ne
from an Extraordinary Private Cellar (November 5, 2005)
and Finest and Rarest Wines (December 3, 2005).
