The Vectis Model Train sale at The Benn Hall, Rugby on Saturday 24th March will include a most unusual early version (c.1923) of a Hornby No.2 Tank Loco with L&NER lettering and 4-4-4 transfer to one tank side and has the tank and bunker lining.
The other tank side has the ‘Great Northern Railway’ crest with no lining to the tank and bunker sides. The loco has no clockwork mechanism and does not look as though one was ever fitted.
The loco comes in an early embossed ‘leatherette’ style box but the embossed lid detail is on the inside instead of the outside. All in all an unusual version, with this being the first time Vectis has offered one.
