Just released from Royal Crown Derby is this wonderful and colourful Rio Toucan. Designed by Carmen Roome and modelled by Peter Allen the Rio Toucan measures 17cm high. It is a very impressive and lovely piece and would form a great keepsake for the Olympics in Rio.
Inspired by the celebrations and explosions of colour that are seen during the world-famous Rio de Janeiro Carnival, the Rio Toucan stands proud as a symbol of its country’s vibrancy. With tropical colours on his long beak, the traditional black body of the Rio Toucan features bursts of blue Catherine wheels and fireworks in the design, highlighted with flecks of 22 carat gold. With eighteen different colours incorporated around his body and beak, he is perched on a tree trunk that is entwined with vines and wild flowers which typify the Brazilian Rainforest.
