: i have a caithness paperweight which appears to be named as tropicana, numbered 321 of 500 and dated 1975. this information is engraved on the base. looking down at the design the initials PH appear in the centre. can you tell me anything about it and if it has any value please? ----------------------- Hi Stacy - this will most likely not be 1975 but 1972: Tropicana (style 1) was designed by Peter Holmes (the PH cane) and first issued 1972. Have a look at the link below - is that your weight or a colour variation (the weight was issued in pink, pruple and yellow). Especially if you have either the pink or purple version, we would be most interested to get good pictures for our online catalogue. The OIP was £ 17 in 1972. Charlton puts it at £ 125 in 2004 - but these relate to auction house prices; on ebay Caithness weights rarely fetch more than 50% of the Charlton prices.
