Rare Corgi World Cup TrophiesTo coincide with the World Cup Football in June 2006, Vectis will be offering in their 16 June auction some rare Corgi Football Trophy models.

Seven lots, five of which are ‘Trophies of the Champions’ Cups, each one handcrafted and produced by Corgi Toys in the mid 70s – but were never released. To include a superb ‘FA Cup’ complete with sample box, ‘World Cup’ - finished in gold, 'Division 1 Trophy', ‘EUFA’ Cup, ‘Jules Rimet’ Cup – possibly all unique models.

Also ‘George Best’ pre-production Mastermodel – although eventually produced as a production run, only a very small quantity were made.

Not forgetting the cricket fans, there is a Cricket Trophy model finished in gold and black, another pre-production item never issued.

All seven lots are being offered for sale by Marcel R. Van Cleemput who was the Chief Designer at Corgi Toys 1954 – 1983. Marcel produced the very first drawings for Corgi and was subsequently involved in the design of every single model produced during this period.
