is riding the wave of success with its SpongeBob Squarepants.
SpongeBob Squarepants along with his bizarre but lovable world
has now found a home at PEZ. Seldom has a cartoon been so thoroughly
underestimated as this one, who, along with his friends from
the bottom of the sea have conquered TV screens all over the
world. Then it’s no wonder either because a sea sponge
who wears square pants, lives in a pineapple, has a pet snail
that behaves like a cat and who happens to work in the kitchen
of a fast-food restaurant called "Crusty Crab" doesn’t
seem to be everyone's cup of tea. What a mistake! With his sweet,
innocent way, SpongeBob Squarepants has won over fans of all
ages.
The secret of the TV series may lie in its positive outlook
and its humor that brings generations together. Adults and children
alike laugh at the ocean inhabitant and his adventures with
his friends. SpongeBob Squarepants was created by Stephen Hillenburg,
a marine biologist. The first episode was aired in the US in
July 1999. Numerous episodes followed.
Of the over 50 million viewers who watched the series from month
for month, approx. 20 million are adults. One of the US’s
most prominent TV magazines rated the cartoon series among the
top ten of the 50 best cartoons of all time.
It was therefore high time that PEZ honor these characters with
their own dispenser collection. To do so, we designed two dispensers
for SpongeBob Squarepants. One is the classic with SpongeBob
in his famous square pants and the other is more mischievous
with SpongeBob in nothing but his underwear. Along for the ride
are also Patrick Starfish, our hero’s best friend as well
as Squidward Tentacles, his grumpy neighbor. All in all, these
dispensers have been lovingly designed and look sweet enough
to eat.
PEZ will accompany the launch of this new collection with great
attention to sales support. Dealers will be provided with perfectly
coordinated POS materials. With blister packaging, stickers,
impulse cartons as well as single stack or quarter pallet displays,
SpongeBob Squarepants will continue to ride the wave of success
with PEZ.
