Royal Copenhagen Easter Contrast CupHard porcelain meets soft silicone in Royal Copenhagen’s new Contrast cup, which is quite deliberately both traditional and innovative in its idiom. The fluted porcelain dates back to 1775, while silicone is a new material for the porcelain factory. The generous size of the cup contrasts with the
subdued pastels, and masculine meets feminine when black and amethyst are put on the table together.

With Contrast, Royal Copenhagen is appealing to a young, urbane audience that signals personality through colour choice in the home. The Emerald
Green cup is just right for mint tea, while Anthracite Black is the perfect match for a laptop. Blue Aquamarine and Pearl White is for coffee in the open air,
while Amethyst Purple is for romance. The silicone cover is changeable, so the colour of the cup will fit the occasion. In the two-cup package, two additional covers are enclosed to make the mood change in a second.

“Porcelain is perfect for combining with other materials. It’s neutral enough to blend into the background, but nevertheless brings style and quality to the overall look. Royal Copenhagen is world famous for exploring and expanding the potential of porcelain, and with Contrast we’ve dared to
take a step in a new direction, with porcelain making up the core of the product, while the colourful silicone cover is a guest star,” explains Niels Bastrup, Creative Director at Royal Copenhagen. This new item has been developed in cooperation with industrial designer Hans Christian Gjedde.
