£5 Postage stamp from 1882 makes £15,000 world record price: A large orange stamp that cost £5 in 1882 used for posting heavy parcels to the furthest reaches of the British Empire set a new world record price for such a stamp at Bonhams in Knightsbridge on December 19 when it sold for £15,270.
