: When a designer makes a new design or pattern they normally test the design and colours with trials or prototypes. Sometimes a colour will not work on a design and so may change.

: There will normally be at least one prototype of every design.

: Some people like to collect these.

: They often say Prototype or Trial on the underside of the piece. Prototypes often fetch more than the normal run of an edition.
