Lilliput
Lane started producing their miniature cottages in 1982. David Tate,
the founder, opened workshops at Skirsgill, in England's Lake District,
and the company has remained in the area ever since.
Pictured right: Thje Pigsty, 2010/2011 Club Symbol of Membership - Built in 1883 by Whitby ship owner and Squire of Fyling Hall, John Warren Barry, this Neo-Classical porcine dwelling in the form of a Grecian temple was created to house his prize pigs.
The majority of cottages
are based on real cottages, with collections based not only on British
Cottages, but also American, and in the past German, Dutch and French
Cottages.
The cottages have attracted a worldwide audience and with regular retirements
and new issues. There is a lot of demand for earlier and rarer cottages.

Pictured left: The Fowl House,
2010/2010 Collectors’ Club Special Edition - These highly unusual timber-framed buildings are from Leighton, the model village near Welshpool, and are said to have been inspired by the Queen’s poultry houses at Windsor.
The Lilliput Lane Club Symbol of Membership for 2009/10 is The Pigsty (pictured above right) and the Club Special Editions include The Fowl House (pictured left) and The Donkey Stable (pictured below right).
Pictured right: The Donley Stable, 2010/2011 Collectors’ Club - These picturesque buildings from Wilmslow once served as stables with accommodation for groomsmen alongside, which is why we thought it would be the perfect place for our delightful donkey home.
