The tree topper needs to be kind of close to the ceiling. The instructions specifically mention 2 ft. Because it doesnt output much light, if you have a cathedral ceiling then more than likely the snowflakes will not show up on the tree.

If yours is lighting up/turning on then hold it up close to a white wall with the lights off. If snowflakes appear you know yours works properly and just needs to be closer to the ceiling.
