Tony Cartlidge Art Pottery

tonycartlidgevaseTony Cartlidge is a Ceramic Art studio opened up by the ceramic artist and designer Tony Cartlidge. It is one of the many new ceramic  art studio’s opening up in Stoke on Trent producing hand crafted and individually hand painted art pottery.

The designs from Tony Cartlidge Art Pottery are all individually designed and hand painted by Tony Cartlidge. Many of the designs being inspired by the local pottery industrial scene.

The vases produced by Tony Cartlidge Art Pottery are not “Just Vases” they are “Works of Art”

Tony has been working as a freelance ceramic artist and designer since 1991.  He has worked on designs for many of the well known pottery producers including Royal Doulton, Carlton Ware, Bairstow Manor Pottery and Lorna bailey. Tony designed and modelled several of the Royal Doulton Double Headed Teapots. These were produced by Royal Doulton in 2002 in world wide Limited Editions of 1500

Tony was also a well known modeller and designer of teapots for Staffordshire Fine Ceramics. A photograph of Tony appears on page 142 of  Novelty Teapots ( the teapot collectors bible) by Edward Bramah modelling a teapot for Staffordshire Fine Ceramics.

Another claim to fame of his many achievements is that he designed and modelled the largest “Toby Jug in the World”. This is now on display in the American Toby Jug Museum based in Chicago, USA.

However, recently whilst continuing his freelance ceramic and design work Tony decided to produced his own ceramic art trading as Tony Cartlidge Ceramic Art.

Tony Cartlidge Art Pottery now produce pottery with their own designs and backstamp which are sold through specialist retailers selling Art Pottery including Stoke Art Pottery
