with other collectors
The latest range from Kevin Francis
are Face Pots. The launch of Face Pots towards the end of 2000 has been
the companies most sucessful ever.
Taking
their inspiration from a traditional Japanese
Netsuke design, and blending that with traditional English ceramic
portraiture, the company has developed these two piece ceramic pots,
2 1/2" in diameter, and featuring the upturned face of a famous
personality on the lid, and an inscription, whilst the backstamp will
include the year of manufacture.
Every
Face Pot is hand made and hand painted at the Peggy Davies Studio in
Stoke on Trent, England, and made to the same high standard as traditional
Kevin Francis releases. At present all Face Pots are modelled by either
Andy Moss or Ray Noble.
The
Face Pots are being produced in an open edition. To add additional spice
to collecting Kevin Francis Face Pots, 100 of each Face Pot will have
a special real gold backstanp, together with a slight colour variation.
These are being distributed randomly - 50 for the UK and 50 for the
US.
Apart
from seasonal pots which will be retired on 31st December each year,
all other Face Pots will be retired from time, without warning. The
first of these retirements was the white 'Bertie Bulldog' on December
23rd, with the final number of orders taken being 248. The first Christmas
Pot, Santa was produced in an edition of 496, and among these, 18 special
blue colourways were distributed.
