Hot Wheels Light Speeders set in box

My wifes parents just found a Hot Wheels Light Speeders Challenge racetrack and car set circa 1989 in the original box (I think it was never opened). This is a track with "Light beam activated" cars using wireless "Hyperlyte" technology. I have done some research on the internet but havent been able to find any information at all on this.
