I have the same problem with my hockey rink. Dept. 56 customer service sent a new rubber band for inside the unit but that didn't work. Was not able to reach customer service again the entire month of Decmeber---very frustrating. An engineer friend looked at it and said it needed lubricant but wasn't sure what kind the company used. Did you have any luck with fixing yours?
