: : I fell for the cottages about two decades ago, and my family gave me many of them for holidays, etc. I thought they were very expensive in the general sense, but worth it to me because I love houses.  I've tried to figure out why the value dropped so drastically, especially given the retirement.  Any thoughts?  Thanks

: Yes, First there were too many made. A glut on the market made them less valuable. EBay contributed to the decline in value too because it made it so easy to find almost any piece. People who had bought them as an "investment" started to unload them at any price when it became apparent that the value was dropping.
: Which is a lesson that no one should invest a lot in collectibles unless they really like them and plan on keeping them.
