A Parade Of Stars For The Royal Copenhagen Christmas Table

royalcopenhageneggcupsThere is no other time of year more laden with nostalgia than Christmas. Christmas has only truly arrived once the old beloved decorations have been hung on the tree – exactly where they always hang – and the table has been set for the traditional Christmas lunch. Since its launch in 2006, Royal Copenhagen’s beautiful naivistic Christmas service, Star Fluted, has become part of the festivities for a growing number of people, and now all those who cherish the symbol-laden porcelain can enjoy three new shooting stars in the range: eggcups, confectionery bowls and a jug.

royalcopenhagenbowlsWith its classic Christmas symbols on arched, green garlands, the Star Fluted service is the unequivocal essence of good old-fashioned Christmas. Drums, hearts, stars, angels and baubles flock together on the delicate cream-colored bone china and a big red bow ties the symbols of Christmas together in a simple, poetic design. The distinctive star shape of the service – which has inspired the name “Star Fluted” – originates all the way back to 1895, making it part of Royal Copenhagen’s large treasure trove of service sets that have regained the spotlight and found their way back into our homes.

But there can be no tradition without innovation. The Star Fluted range will therefore be expanded with three new functional products this year – widening the opportunities to use the beautiful service throughout the Christmas season. The stylized eggcups make for an “eggs-tra” appetizing breakfast or lunch, since the delightful cups are ideal for serving small appetizers, herring and lumpfish roe. A set of smaller bowls with a new design featuring glittering stars and Christmas baubles are perfect for chocolates, cookies and confectionery – and as gifts for the hostess.

A capacious jug for serving all those warm and cold Christmas beverages – water, juice, hot chocolate and Christmas beer – complete the table setting. It also makes a beautiful centerpiece on the Christmas table – filled with warm custard for the Christmas pudding.
