ID help w/ Scorpion & Soldier brass button [ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Buttons Message Board ]

I need help in ID-ing a button. It's a round flat button with a scorpion, a small star or sun and the profile of a soldier's head wearing a helmet. It's a bit larger than a US 25 cent piece. I believe it to come from the time period of approx 1850's. The design has been pressed into the button. The back has a soldered eye. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
