Hi Cindy!

The best place to look is on ThisisBlythe.com - if you look in the Kenner section it will show you all of the techniques for gently cleaning your doll inluding her hair! It's really important to be careful with them as their make-up can come off easily and their hair plugs can run.

If she only has minor tangles, you can comb her hair like you would any tangled hair. Comb in very, very small sections, very gently from the tips, gently teasing the tangles out. Kenner's do have a reputation for having frizzy ends and it's part of their charm as the hair easily hold styles.

You can further smooth the hair by using human rollers on it. Combing it flat first and then putting in the rollers and leaving for a day or two to set. Continued use of the rollers will see a huge improvement of the hair texture. Red head Blythe's normally do have coarser textured hair than some of the others but it is considered part of their charm.

If you want to go further there are many other ways such as using uncoloured clothes fabric conditioner on the hair, which will also see an improvement. please see the site for the experiences of other owners.

The addage with any of these lovely dolls is not to attempt anything that can't be undone with them. Whilst it's fashionable to restore them, dolls just knowledgeably and gently cleaned or left as found will always retain more value, as they are increasingly rare.

Sorry for the epoch - but you really will find the website I've recommended an eye opener.

Welcome to a very elite club of ownership for these gorgeous dolls :)

: Hi!

: I have a redhead vintage Blythe who's in need of a good combing. She has minor tangles and I do not want to damage hair. Can anyone give me any helpful hints, as I do not want to damage the doll in any way.

: Thanks
