had another thought. maybe you saw an added on date stamp (not the postal kind of course)? not sure why someone would use a 1939 date stamp instead of 1940, but no telling how many owners it may have had, or when a date stamp was done, and if someone confused it with Detective 27's published year. it should be fairly easy to tell a stamp from a printed on date though.
