: Since I started collecting Barbie dolls in the early 1980s, there was a question I asked back then but I never found an answer.  In 25 years, I never have seen this subject raised before:  how many different Barbie dolls are there?
: It took me six months of research.  I went through every reference book, magazine and e-mail I could find to come up with my answer.  I compiled a list divided by year, from 1959 to 1999.  The reason I stopped at 1999 is that was the year I stopped buying new merchandise.  Although I still buy stuff from 1999 and before, I've hardly purchased anything from 2000 onward.
: I compiled all my lists and put them on my web page.  My site has three columns.  The middle one is just the regular diary part, in other words, the part where people write about their topic of the day.  My columns on each side list the dolls by the year.
: Oh and the number I came up with is 2,386.
